Definition of the radish

The radish, scientifically known under the name of Raphanus sativus, is a root plant for the Brassicaceae family. Originally from Asia and Europe, the radish is largely cultivated of its edible root, but its extracts can equally be applied in the cosmetic domain thanks to their beneficial properties for skin and hair.

Radish is mainly cultivated in areas with a mild climate, in Asia and Europe. This plant prefers soils rich in nutrients and well-drained. The extracts used in cosmetics are generally obtained from the roots of the plant, which are harvested by hand to preserve they purity and their efficacy. The biological cultures are often privileged to guarantee a product free from pesticides and respectful of the environment.

Anecdotes on the radish

The radish has a long story of use in various cultures of its benefits on health. In ancient Egypt, it was eaten byt the workers to increase their resistance and vitality. In ancient Greece, radish was considered as a precious nutrient and was often offered as gold to the god Apollo, as a sign of devotion.
